Dr Jennifer Batty

Jennifer BattyJennifer Batty BSc PhD has been in ecological research, education and consultancy since 1980.  The focus of her current work is on 'making biodiversity matter'.

Jennifer’s experience includes researching environmental impact in supply chains, pollution impacts in terrestrial and aquatic systems in Australia, France and the UK. She leads the course Sustaining Ecosystems at Strathclyde University and teaches on the MSc in Human Ecology.

Sam Harrison
Sam HarrisonSam Harrison MA MSc is a director of the Centre for Human Ecology.  The focus of his work is building motivation and ecological responsibility through experiences of the natural environment.

Sam leads groups on trips ranging from a single day to multi-day expeditions, with destinations ranging from Scotland to Greenland.  He has a wide knowledge of mountain ecology and the psychology of outdoor experiences.  He works with a variety of clients from young offenders, to community groups and eco-tourism businesses. Sam has worked extensively with the GalGael Trust in Govan to develop their community organisation and launch their rural program.

Andy Wynne

Andy WynneAndy Wynne BA MSc is a graduate of the Centre for Human Ecology and a member of the UK Sustainable Development Panel. His work encompasses environmental sustainability, community empowerment, social enterprise, local economic development, social justice and regeneration.

Andy’s experience includes researching opportunities for social enterprise in the field of environmental technology and services for Manchester Social Enterprise Forum; producing sustainable development training and education material for DEFRA and the Federation for Community Development Learning; mapping voluntary sector infrastructure and social enterprise for the Greater Manchester Voluntary Sector Support Consortium; and reporting on an integrated and sustainable transport system for the Community Network for Manchester’s Transport Pool.
